Google challenges Coke as world's leading brand

 

Interesting piece in the Guardian on Google's brand ascendency - strengthened since then of course by the high profile acquisition of YouTube.  Ranked 24th globally in the annual survey by Interbrand in 2006 it was highlghted for its "almost unlimited potential" and likened to Richard Branson's Virgin brand in the bricks and mortar world (though Virgin are no slouches in online adventures either).
