User generated content goes mainstream in the US courtesy of their national treasure - the Superbowl ad space (treasured probably as much as the event itself) - and Yahoo Video.  The YouTube generation get to cut their own 30 second ad for Doritos and the winner will be unveiled and screened on 4th February during the big game.

 

 

You have gotta love it.  And if it is successful you can see others queuing up to adopt similar strategies (or "stunts" as they might be seen in the short term, but once the sheer quality, appeal and cost effectiveness of user generated stuff becomes apparent attitudes might change).
